  • Managed all Web site projects and the work of our Web vendor
  • Wrote a column called Search Engine that reviewed health care Web sites for Hospitals & Health Networks
  • Promoted and marketed the family of sites using Internet channels such as newsgroups and e-mail mailing lists and solicited reciprocal links with other health care industry sites
  • Created and refined new sections and features for the sites, including a powerful and user-friendly article archive search engine; a registration section that is linked to an opt-in push e-mail system; an online products catalog; a subscription section, and a daily news update

Senior editor of Hospitals & Health Networks, a monthly, four-color magazine (formerly bi-monthly) published by Health Forum. The publication, which has a circulation of 130,000-plus, covers the business side of the health care industry. Managed magazine's departments, which entailed issue planning, assigning stories, editing, writing headlines and captions, and checking page proofs and bluelines. Worked closely with the managing editor, production coordinator, graphic designer, and both freelance and in-house writers. Supervised one staff writer.

Managing editor of California Physician, a monthly, four-color magazine published by the California Medical Association. The 30,000-plus circulation publication covered socio-economic issues that affect California doctors. Supervised a staff of two editor/writers, a production coordinator/classified advertising salesperson, and a display advertising salesperson. Did content and copy editing, editorial planning and story assignment, magazine production, and managed the publication's $500,000 budget.

Newsletter editor of Material Matters, the monthly newsletter of the Illinois Recycling Association. Produced this project on a freelance basis. Wrote stories, edited articles provided by the association's staff, and did the desktop publishing work, producing a camera-ready issue.
